I'm very proud to announce that CB Music Group and Futch Entertainment have completed a joint venture for direct distribution through Universal Music Group Distribution. At this time CB will offer distribution to our members that meet all criteria established by Futch Entertainment and Universal Music Group Distribution guidelines.

Reading up on your Distribution forum. Very educational. All the people that I know that are promoting their music....and maybe be looking for some info on distribution, I will definitely refer them here. good job--Jomo

Maybe Ron Spaulding from Fontana Distribution can shed some light on the pros and cons of distribution? I know I'm putting him on the spot but we are here to support and give insight on distribution.

You have some valid points. This is why major distributors like, Fontana Distribution make sure the client is able to sustain the market for a minimum of 19 months (life of the project).

I'm sure I can get some light shed on this by participants but if you don't have a budget or capital for marketing and promotions, what good is distribution?

I currently have a client with more than enough money to do a distribution deal. However, it poses that our company would have to step in as the experience management team to run the label.

So is this a company that Fontana or another major would look at? Yes, but based on the financial stability and the staffing we would provide to the company. Can this new label sustain the marketing for 24 months (yes 24). Yes this new label could. Is the project hot? Yes, do they have radio and street promotions covered? Yes, they have top companies to handle nationwide promotions and marketing.

So, what's next? Meeting with distributors and going over financials and the marketing plan for the next 18 months.

What good will distribution do without marketing or a publist. Some people will buy music from walmart, bestbuy or target, because that can see it, and some cases take can listen to it. What happens with downloads. That package is not there for the customer to examine it.
