- There are artists who’ve got something, and there are artists who’ve got it, and upon hearing his voice for the first time, it’s obvious that Xavier is firmly in the latter category. With an irresistible mixture of R&B, Soul, and Pop, he invokes greats from the past while bringing something totally new to the game he honors the roots of R&B while imagining it anew. His influences came from Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Luther Vandross, Craig David, and many more. Xavier has always been surrounded by music since his early childhood. Many of his close relatives gained fame regionally, and internationally. Being related to legendary soul singer Patti LaBelle, you can tell that the passion and talent has branches in the family tree. Xavier began songwriting, producing, and recording at age 14. “My first song was about becoming a successful singer, believe it or not”, he recalls. “When Trey Songz came out with “Just Gotta Make It”, I was like man I should have pushed harder”. For Xavier, the love of music was primary, and everything else was secondary. If he wasn’t singing, he was writing, coming up with concepts, or production. When he turned 15, he entered his high school chorus class and gain knowledge of different musical aspects. He traveled up and down the east coast singing different gospel arrangements, opera style pieces, and medleys. During this time he developed his range, and style. “My dream was to sign a deal, before I graduated”, says Xavier. But unfortunately, things didn’t go as plan. After selling a high school album, having a celebrated “Graduation Anthem” on the radio and pushing a demo to different labels didn’t go through, he chose a different route. In order to leave his hometown of Albany, Ga, he entered the Air Force right after high school to travel, enroll in college, and build his networking capabilities. Lucky for him, everything has been working out as planned. After hooking up with producer Jerry Riddle, he has been seeking his way into the hearts of many. With songs like “Captivating”, “Let’s Go”, and “Come and Get This Love”, Xavier’s positive feedback has been very promising. “I feel like I’ve been I the background long enough trying to perfect my craft, and it’s time to let the world know what God gave me”, says Xavier. He currently works for Dj Kay Slay’s Straight Stuntin Magazine. “One day I hit Kay Slay up and told him about my music path, and he told me to send him some material”. After the Drama King DJ Kay Slay heard his music for the first time, he was amazed. He gave Xavier the key, and he’s definitely ready to drive the charts. Xavier writes songs that people can relate to, and you will definitely find yourself humming, or singing his tunes at some point during the day. This multitalented young man is ready to deliver what’s missing from majority of the music these days…. and that’s meaning.
